Thursday, March 15 – Manage Your References with RefWorks (Online via Wimba)

RefWorks helps you organize and manage your references as you work on a paper or project. Learn how to move references directly from the databases to your own RefWorks account, cite your sources easily, create bibliographies, and insert references into your research paper as you write it. Sign-up required; you will receive access instructions through email.

Date & time: Thursday, March 15 -- 1:00 to 1:45pm
Location: Online
Instructor: Linda Beninghove

Thursday, March 22 – Analyzing Citations using Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science

Citation searching and bibliometrics can help you determine how much impact an author has in a field and which journals are considered the best in a field. This workshop is important for students, researchers, and faculty thinking about publishing, writing a thesis or dissertation, or applying for promotion or tenure. Light refreshments will be served.

Date & time: Thursday, March 22 -- 1:00 to 1:45pm
Location: Library training room 204
Instructor: Linda Beninghove.

Thursday, March 29 – Serious Social Networking and Searching the Deep Web

Learn about online tools you can use to craft a professional presence and network on the web, while protecting your reputation and privacy. The deep web, also known as the invisible web, consists of content that you won't find through general internet searching. Search engines have difficulty indexing certain kinds of web pages (i.e., PDFs and dynamically-created pages), but there are tools to help you find this "hidden" information. This workshop will introduce you to searchable databases and explain why some pages are "invisible" to search engines. Light refreshments will be served.

Date & time: Thursday, March 29 -- 1:00 to 1:45pm
Location: Library training room 204.
Instructor: Valerie Forrestal.
